When shorten an impulse response, don't do a hard delete at the end of the sample. It can creates a digital click when we use the impulse. So, we have to do a quick fade at the end of the sample to get a smooth short impulse.
I want to share to you how I fade the impulse. But, honestly I don't really sure that it makes alot of differences than just doing blind fade out.
Here it is:
- Find the hill and valley at end of the impulse waveform
- Zoom in and click at the zero crossing (or near)
- Zoom Out and sort to the end of the impulse response sample
- Apply fade out
